A journey that began in 1889

When "Oberlausitzer Glaswerke J. Schweig and Co." was founded in Weißwasser in 1889, it was with a vision of excellence. From medical glass and light bulbs to tableware, the company has always been at the forefront of technological development.

In 1996 the factory was acquired by Stölzle Oberglas AG, an Austrian family business that carried out an extensive modernisation. Under the new name Stölzle Lausitz GmbH, the company became leaner, more efficient and more sustainable. This restructuring has strengthened its position as a leading independent manufacturer in the German glass industry.

In Weißwasser, the fine glasses are made today using the most modern methods. Lead-free crystal glass is produced mechanically to a quality that rivals mouth-blown glass.
